Dale McCarthy has a unique and miraculous ability. He can bring the dead back to life, though the resurrected have no memory of their deaths. But not every miracle comes from God, and not every healer is a saint.
Ever since her new neighbor moved in, Sarah Lincoln has been having terrible nightmares. Last night she dreamed she and her husband were brutally murdered in their beds. This morning she found bloody sheets in the laundry and bloodstains on her mattress. And the nightmare is the same, night after night after night. With no one prepared to take her wild fears seriously, Sarah will have to save herself from being murdered. Again.

The Resurrectionist Authors Preferred Edition eBook Wrath James White
After a book club gave me a reason to revisit this classic novel by Wrath James White, I didn't hesitate at the chance. I had read the original version when it was released, years ago, and had to find out what White added in this version with the added epilogue.Dale McCarthy's story was no less traumatic and twisted than it was the first time I read this. If anything, I appreciated his evil nature even more while he tormented his prey. Sarah Lincoln and her husband go through hell and back while Dale uses his special power on them at his leisure while they try to piece together the nightmares that are spilling over into their reality.
This explosive, gore filled novel is not for the weak of heart. White plasters the pages with semen and blood and I've always had the feeling he was just sitting back waiting for the reactions of his readers. Behind the blanket of gore, there is a tightly woven plot featuring characters readers will love as much as they hate. The epilogue is a nice edition to a novel that left me searching for extra pages when the original ending punched me in the gut with the amazing twist that White strangles his readers with.
White offers up a perfectly updated version of a classic novel that is nothing less than a must-read for anyone into Splatterpunk and gore. If you're easily offended, prepare to find your panties/underwear in a twisted lump as there is something to offend everyone here. When you're done, check out the film based on this, Come Back To Me, a surprisingly solid adaption that keeps the spirit of the novel in place.

The Resurrectionist Authors Preferred Edition eBook Wrath James White Reviews
I have long wanted to read WJW's works but somehow never made a true concerted effort until now, and I have been missing out on something special it would seem. There are errors, sure, but I honestly couldn't care less. The substance of the novel is so rich and bloody that small insignificant errors are ignored. Some of the characters seem like poor stereotypes at first, but unravel to show more substance over the story. This novel is graphic without being distasteful or comical and hits the mark with its pick and creep factor. A recommended read for any fan of horror or supernatural killers.
When settling in for a cozy read of horror there are a handful of factors I look for. I don't wish to be awash in muck and gore and gratuitous violence for violence's sake; even though the premise is farfetched and requires fundamental suspension of disbelief, give me pacing and tension and dialogue making said premise all the more believable; give me a little originality (easier said than done in a saturated [pardon the pun] genre).
And of course Wrath James White shoots and scores on all of the above with his juicy title THE RESURRECTIONIST. Like all good horror tomes this novel hooks from the start and never lets up; White's story about a pathetic soul with a divine gift is brutal, savage, ugly, disturbing, horrific, and jarring. White aptly depicts the victims' frustrations, the antagonist's cunning and evil cerebral machinations, believable dialogue, pulse-pounding suspense, and an eye-opening ending. Page after page, Wrath James White pushes the envelope and delivers a twisted, disturbing read where absolutely nothing is taboo. Not for the faint of heart or weak of stomach, THE RESURRECTIONIST is fearless.

Incredible story with just the right pacing, the right characters and the right plot to move the story along. BUT the BEST part is the writing. The sheer excellence of stringing together words to complete thoughts, sentences, clauses and phrases has blown me away. This is one tight story with nothing that needs to be left on the cutting room floor. Other authors had recommended Wrath James White to me, but I kept putting it off.I read well over 400 books a year, so there is always another book sitting on my 'to be read' pile. Then, the holidays came and I watched 'Come Back to Me'. Good movie, kept me entertained, when I read the author's name, I had to pick up the book. Now I get it. I get why other horror writers use White as a benchmark. What a joy it was to breeze through this tale. If you like your fiction taut and clean, read this book.
